Oh, the outfits you can get away with wearing in Halifax in deep October are out of this world! Not only is Halloween scheduled to drop before the month is over, but Hal-Con is also coming, so hold onto your broomsticks and flash on through to this weekend’s upcoming good times.

1. Handmade and homespun are the key ingredients for a magical holiday season. This weekend Saltscapes Expo will be serving festive farm-to-table inspiration and artisan goodies that will inspire holiday gift giving and entertaining. Doors open at 10am at the Halifax Exhibition Centre on Friday. Tickets are available for purchase at the gate for $14.50 and children ages 10 and under are FREE.

2. HAL-CON is here! This is a family-friendly event is the biggest, geekiest SCi-FI convention in Atlantic Canada. Jam-packed schedule of panels, Q&As, workshops, an amazing costume contest, and a dedicated gaming floor Hal-Con has something for everyone regardless of age, interest or level of geek! It’s all Hal-Con all weekend, Friday through Sunday.

3. It’s gettin’ spooky over here! Unicorn Theatre’s Halloween production of ‘Spooks’ will definitely get you in the Halloween Spirit. The show at Bay Community Centre at 11 Station Road, Head of St. Margaret’s Bay and is good for kids aged three up to about grade 5 or 6. Tickets are $5 and pre-booking is required.

4. Truck or Treat Saturday afternoon! There are quite a few around HRM so get those costumes on and have some fun with the kiddos. Trunk or Treat is more than collecting candy from cars, at many of the events there are fun and games too!
