This weekend is about kite flying, an exhibition, nursery rhymes and sandcastles! What more could you want out of a spectacular weekend?

1. Road trip alert! Middle Musquodoboit is on the list for this week. The Halifax County Ex has been proudly run by the community and volunteers since 1884. Goes without saying that Halifax County folk know how to serve up a ton of fun for the entire family, “it’s a family tradition”! Catch the opening parade on Wednesday at 1, the Princess Pageant, crazy midway rides, local entertainment, all kinds of animals, and who can resist those tasty carnival treats? Admission: adults $7 seniors $6 children (6 to 12) $2 children 5 and under FREE! 

2. Fly as high as you can and join in on the fun at the 6^th Annual East Coast Kite Festival! Bring your family and friends! Kite flying lovers unite at Citadel Hill, Saturday and Sunday starting at 10am! At this FREE event, take in the display of big inflatable and small kites over two days by Atlantic Kite Festival Society volunteers and kite fliers. Hit up the food trucks and vendors for something delicious, send the kids in a bouncy castle, buy a new ring, frog, or panda, kite (there will be over 50 styles to choose from!). And here’s something to think about: The organization’s mandate includes highlighting the commonality of kite flying that is evident in multiple cultures. That’s right, try to think of a culture that doesn’t fly kites….can you?

3. The Mother Goose Festival is BACK! This event is always a hit with the littles, it’s free and fun for the whole family. On Saturday at 10, take the whole family down to Alderney Landing to meet nursery rhyme friends, dig for treasure, watch a Play, meet farm animals, play on the bouncy castles, and more! 

4. Spend your Sunday at the BEACH! Use your hands, shovels, and pails to sculpt your masterpiece! The 2022 Clam Harbour Sandcastle Competition will bring tons of sand and family fun! Entry is $10 (cash only) for adults/teams 19+ and kids are FREE! Gates open at 9.
