Happy Canada Day! Bring on the red and white and get out to enjoy some of the many celebrations going on around town for our nation’s new and improved birthday!

1. KANA’TA: Canada Day 2022 celebrations offers a variety of new and refreshed cultural, musical, and family-oriented events to enjoy. Honouring the traditions of the Mi’kmaw Nation and celebrates pan-Indigenous communities that call the municipality home. Enjoy Mawio’mi on the Commons, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Canada Day Parade, a Dartmouth Summer Sunshine Series free concert, and a KANA’TA x Grand Oasis Festival free concert – featuring co-headliners Neon Dreams and Crown Lands, supported by Drives The Common Man, DeeDee Austin, and Eastern Eagle. The KANA’TA x Grand Oasis Festival concert event will be hosted by Garratt Gloade, and free passes are available at http://www.halifax.ca/grandoasis.

2. Ahoy Matey! Take a tour of Canada’s oldest warship, the HMCS Sackville Ship will be open to the public daily from 10am-5pm. Step inside and see what is was like to live and work on this ship during the Second World War. It will be staged to reflect the 2022 theme, Action Stations – complete with red light conditions!

3. Get ready for an exciting summer of live music and special events on the Dartmouth Waterfront! The Dartmouth Summer Sunshine Series is 10 weeks of live entertainment at the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal Park on Saturdays and Sundays. Check our their evolving weekly line up here. Canada Day brings the African Nova Scotian Music Association who will be live at Dartmouth Ferry Terminal Park showcasing emerging and established artists including headliner and Juno Nominee JRDN, aka Jordan Croucher.

4. Sackville Patriot Days began on the 25 and will run till Canada Day! If you live in the area (or want to take a little road trip) make sure you get out to enjoy the incredible line-up of family friendly events and entertainment that will ensure everyone has an awesome, fun-filled weekend.
