Look out! There’s a great weekend ahead!
1. The Downtown Dartmouth Ice Festival is this weekend! Portland Street will be closed to traffic on Saturday starting at 11. Enjoy live ice carving, workshops, live music and entertainment, street games and winter activities. Best part is…it’s all FREE!
2. Ready for a weekend roadtrip recommendation just a hop and a skip down Highway 103? Then take yourself to beautiful Chester for Discover Art Days on 5 Pleasant Street with the whole family from 1-3 on Sunday for a drop-in fun art activity! This Sunday is watercolour with Lisa Hrabowksy, but this program runs all winter if you’re looking for something new to do. Fee is by donation.
3. How would you like to control a 44-foot metal T-rex with pulleys and levers? The Discovery Centre’s featured exhibit, Dinosaurs in Motion, is more than an exhibition about dinosaurs, it’s a showcase of the power of integrating art, science and innovation. Embark on a journey with 14 gigantic dinosaurs and control their movements, learn about robotics, animatronics, sound and motors and discover prehistoric facts. You can purchase tickets online.
4. From the waterslides at the Canada Games Centre and Dartmouth Sportsplex and the Spryfield Wave Pool to the fabulously warm toddler pool at Cole Harbour Place, the synchronized swim team at Centennial and the Tarzan rope at Needham, HRM recreation centres have some of the best indoor play spaces around! Most have libraries in the building for a perfect after-swim activity.
