Welcome to this weekend, it’s a wild one with events on two Waterfronts, a fresh festival on the Garrison Grounds, a Big Ex, sweet sounds, and fast cars. 

1. Street performers take to the Halifax & Dartmouth Waterfront this year, starting this Wednesday July 27th. For laughter by day and excitement at night, experience these shows without walls all week long! Every year, the Halifax Busker Festival attracts talent to captivate Haligonians and visitors, and this year will not disappoint! On the Halifax side, expect music, acrobatics, fire dancers; and on the Dartmouth side, East Coast Amusements are setting up Alderney Landing.

2. Head to Garrison Grounds this Saturday for the first ever Ratha Yatra Festival (Festival of the Chariots), an antient festival that originated in India! There will be entertainment, cultural performances, boutiques, tons of spiritual info, activities for kids, and free vegetarian food. It’s a great opportunity to participate in a rich cultural tradition. 

3. Gear up for a road trip down the South Shore! The Big Ex is happening all week in Bridgewater. There’s good old-fashioned horse and oxen pulls, show horse events, arts and crafts, 4-H displays and competitions, kids petting zoo, live music and performances, and of course, the midway rides, games and tasty concessions. Kids 8-12 get in free on Wednesday and Sunday, and everyday kids 7 and under get in free! Check out the Big Ex website for the scheduled events. It’s always a great time!

4. You may have heard sweet sounds coming from Acadia Park every weekend. That’s all because of the Free Summer Concert Series brought to you by the Sackville Business Association. This Saturday, Jody Upshaw will be performing 7-8. *Check the website for rain dates.

KIDS RACE is not actually a kids race, but it is all about having family fun for a great cause. Scotia Speedworld has opened their doors to raise awareness about autism. So be sure to head out to the track this Friday Night and show your support. On track action will be the same as every other CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series event–fast, loud, and action-packed!
