Roadtrips, road races, popsicles, and strawberry socials. Maritimers know how to do summer in the best way.

1. Pack up the lawn chairs, blankets, and family! The Public Gardens are hosting the movie My Life Without Me this Friday night under the stars. This FIN Outdoor movie starts at dusk, scheduled for 9. Use the main gate, dress for the weather, and please bring a donation for Feed Nova Scotia.

2. As a homage to more simple times, and a flashback to their roots, the team at Blue Nose Marathon brings you “The Popsicle Run,” now in its 2nd year! You can still register for Saturday’s race here. It’s a basic 5k run around Lake Banook in Dartmouth sprinkled with a little swag. With your registration you’ll receive a chip-timed race, a finished’er medal, a popsicle Run branded visor and reusable cup, sweet treats and have a great time!

3. It’s that time of year! Fresh local strawberries dress up the best of desserts. The Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum if hosting a Strawberry Social. Saturday from 11-3, enjoy classic east coast live music in the farmyard and scrumptious strawberry shortcake served at the Rose & Kettle Tearoom. No advanced ticket purchase necessary. Feel free to stop in early, the Farm Museum opens at 10.

4. Hit the road for the Lunenburg Food & Craft Festival this weekend to celebrate regional cultural heritage, creativity, and craftsmanship! The longest running craft show in the province brings together some of the finest artisans, craftspeople, musicians, entertainers, and food vendors to create a unique summer marketplace. Sample from a variety of Food Trucks offering unique menus and specialty items!
