Whether it be international, contemporary, or historical, Halifax is bursting with culture this weekend!
- Don’t just be Irish for a day… be Irish for the whole weekend! The 4th annual Celtic Festival graces the Halifax Forum, the Wanderer’s Grounds, and other locations with Celtic music, dancing, sport, cuisine, and crafts. Not to miss is Family Day on Saturday at the Halifax Forum Multipurpose Centre from 11:00 am–6:00 pm!
- No one is too young to be greeted with a “Namaste.” The gesture Namaste represents the belief that there is a divine spark within each of us. Kindle your divine spark, rediscover the magic and practical expression of peace, and take it home with you by attending Peace Halifax, a day-long festival at Pier 21. All events at Peace Halifax are completely free of charge and open to everyone!
- What about going back in time for a day or two? Take the family for a spin on the Halifax Citadel time machine to the American Revolutionary period to watch history come to life. Members of various Maritime Living History groups will set up a military camp on Saturday from 10:00 am–5:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am–3:00 pm. At “The Second Citadel in the age of Revolution Encampment,” British and Loyalist troops will be depicted in the Citadel’s south ditch.
- There will be music playing and people swaying and folks for you to meet. It doesn’t matter what you wear, just as long as you are there…at Quinfest on Saturday from 11:00 am–3:00 am. The Street Fest reflects the diversity of Quinpool Road and offers a day packed full of fun family activities! The best part…we’ll be there! Urban Parent will be sharing a tent with Freeman’s, and you know what that means? FREE PIZZA!!
