Reppin’ the past, present and future of fun!
1. Canada at Play: 100 years of Games, Toys and Sports is at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. Even with the technology we have today, we still enjoy games and play! Sports and toys have changed little over the past 130 years. You and your family are invited to go get your play time on with a special temporary exhibit from the Royal Ontario Museum! There will be fun daily programming between 10 and 4 (Sundays between 1 and 4), and admission is just $11.85 for a family.
2. Kick off March Break at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia this Sunday 1-4 by having lots of creative fun and getting your hands dirty. Clay and sculpture materials will be the focus of the afternoon. Find inspiration from the animals and plants featured in various artworks in the Gallery as you create three dimensional creatures and figures. Admission is free for members; family pass is $25 otherwise.
3. Enjoy a day out over March Break at the historic Ross Farm Heritage Museum. Each day will feature a different theme relating to the farm. As always there will be lots of hands-on activities for everyone to enjoy and crafts to participate in throughout the day. Yummy hot chocolate will be served and weather permitting, there will be sleigh rides! Take Exit 9 on Highway 103 to get there and admission is $25/family. Sunday mornings, get there between 9:30 and 11 and admission is FREE.
4. Is the child in your life a visual learner? Do they enjoy creating digital art or playing with interactive visual technology? Kids Learning Code is excited to host this generative art programming workshop with processing for kids 6-8 years old + parent/guardian March 16 @ Volta on Barrington Street in Halifax! Designed to give learning experiences that are fun, engaging, empowering, and inspirational. Learners will use geometrical shapes and lines to create interactivity with their mouse and keyboard. They will also be introduced to openprocessing.org, where they can share their sketches with others and view other amazing, experimental creations. Each Generative Art with Processing workshop has the same flow, but different activities.
You must bring your own laptop for which you have administrative permission. Please remember to bring your own power cord. A mouse can come in handy too! You may be required to download some free software. After sign-up, we will email detailed instructions. Learners must bring their own nut-free snacks plus a water bottle!
