This weekend brings us breeds, feeds, music and a skate at the Oval!
1. Get ready for a weekend of dog friendly fun at The Halifax Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show at the Halifax Forum! You’ll see All Breed Conformation Shows, a Junior Handling Competition, “Meet the Breeds” and get tips on choosing the right pup for your family. Please note: For insurances purposes, only those dogs registered for the event are permitted in the show venue. Open all weekend, dog show times are Friday at 3:30, Saturday at 8 and 1, and Sunday at 9. Admission is $5 and $12 for a family.
2. Welcome to the world of child feeding! Do you have a picky eater at home? Do you dread mealtime because of stress, arguing, or tears? This introductory workshop walks parents or caregivers through Ellyn Satter’s Division of Responsibility in Feeding and how to apply for all ages and stages. This discussion is about HOW to feed children to both encourage pleasant mealtimes and to model healthy relationships with food. $15 per person, $20 for two caregivers in the same household. 3. CariLINK on ICE! Spend a fun Friday night on the ice at the Emera Oval hosted by the Carilink Association of Nova Scotia. Make the best of your winter! Starts at 7:30 and it’s FREE for the hour, so bring your family, friends, and have a great skate!
4. This Saturday head to The McInness Room at the Dal Student Union Building for WINTERLUDE! The Fine Arts Parents Association is hosting a celebration and showcase of vocal and instrumental talents. All proceeds from the event go directly to support Halifax Regional Arts Music (West) students. From 2-4 there will be a balloon pop and raffle baskets, 7-11 there are evening performances, a DJ Dance, and silent auction.
5. The 2nd annual African Heritage Night at The Conservatory on Sunday at 7. Celebrate music, poetry and literature with incredible artists and Conservatory faculty. Admission by donation. All ages. All proceeds from this event support Conservatory education initiatives for African Nova Scotian youth. 6199 Chebucto Rd.
