All Halifax Holiday Hustle events are lit up in RED on the Urban Parent Calendar!
- How ‘bout a festive 5k Fun Run or 1k Elf Walk at the Fairbanks Centre in Shubie Park?! Join in on the Santa Shuffle Fun Run and Elf Walk in support of your local Salvation Army in the fight against poverty. Teams, families and individuals all welcome! No need to wear a ridiculous winter sweater, but we are sure it wouldn’t hurt. Some say they make you run sillier.
- Check out dem Downtown Halifax Lights! The Halifax Lights Festival will be gracing Cornwallis Park on Hollis Street all season long. This weekend Hatfield Farm will be joining the festivities with a holiday petting zoo on Saturday from 1-5 in Cornwallis Park! Santa will be there from 1-4 for pictures with pets, but we are certain he won’t mind posing with the odd child (or any other human for that matter, he is, after all, quite a generous, jolly old soul). All this Splendour in the Park is free of charge, and donations for Make-A-Wish Atlantic Provinces are welcome.
- There are many acts taking to the stage this weekend, and Urban Parent’s fave is the Coastal Dance Theatre presentation of SNOW QUEEN. This captivating ballet, taking place this weekend at Alderney Landing at 7:30 on Friday and Saturday and 2:00 on Saturday and Sunday. This performance is an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s Snow Queen; a magical story about friendship, courage, and determination. Join brave Gerda on her exciting quest to rescue her best friend Kaya from the spell of the cold Snow Queen. Tickets are $13 for kids, $18 for adults, and Urban Parent is giving away a pair of them! Ice dance your way over to our Facebook Contest to like comment and share for your chance to see the Snow Queen, Gerda, and a host of charming characters in all their frozen glory on Friday evening for zero dollars.
