1. Calling all community volunteers! Lake Echo Beach at 3168 Hwy #7 is in need of a little TLC and they need your help. Meet at the Lake Echo Community Recreation Centre parking tot for orientation on Saturday at 2. Please bring your mask. Gloves, rakes, and other supplies will be provided.
2. Cole Harbour Westphal is cleaning up the Auburn Jon Stewart Community Park on Saturday from 10 until noon. Any help is appreciated. Gloves and bags will be provided, please bring your mask for areas where social distance cannot be maintained.
3. Don’t miss this boat! Head to McNabs Island on Sunday! Join the Friends of McNabs Island for a guided hike through Canadian history. Meet at A&M Sea Charters — 87 Government Wharf Rd, Fisherman’s Cove — no later than 9:15, the boat departs at 9:30 and arrives home at 4! Learn about the important role McNabs Island played for the Mi’kmaq First Nations, the early French settlers, and the British, who built several forts on the island to protect the Port of Halifax. There’s a lot more to take in but we’ll save the details for you to discover! It’s $25 for members of the Friends of McNabs Island, $20 for children and youth under 16, $30 for non-members. 4. For the Moms and Dads. Coffin Skate Shop is inviting you to join them on Sunday for a roll-out through Halifax! Not too many things are better than roller skating with friends. Meet at the shop at 2984 Oxford at 5:30 to gear up and head out for a group skate through the city. There’s no cost to participate and don’t worry if you are a slower skater or have never skated through the city before, they work as a team to make sure everyone has a good time!
