Allow Urban Parent to present some amazing Day Camps that still have room for your son, daughter, niece, nephew, or grandkid! Summer Camps 101 isn’t quite the same as previous years, but we felt compelled to give our Urban Parents a few options for the upcoming sunny season! Please note that the following are in alignment with Public Health Guidelines and want to give kids a fun, safe, learning environment. For experiences that will last a lifetime, it is not too late to register for summer camp!
1. Scotia Suzuki School of Music is strumming to a tune you’ll love! This summer, each week-long class will explore a range of music and dance. Scotia Suzuki School teachers bring their wealth of talent and experience to lead classes for children and youth this summer. Students will have fun and get inspired with activities and explorations of violin, fiddle, piano chording, step dance, art, musical theater, and hip-hop. Registration and fees are $325 per week and opens on May 1st at 10.
July 5–9: Violin Week (Advanced Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced)
July 12–16: Fiddle Week (Advanced Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced)
July 19–23: Musical Theater Week (Ages 8-12yrs)
August 2–6: Musical Theater Week (Ages 13yrs +)
The day begins at 8:30 am and goes until 4:30 pm. Early or later drop-off options can be arranged for an extra fee. Additional information will be sent includng the expectations and most recent COVID protocols in advance of class in order to ensure a great week!

2. Big Ben’s Camp, dribble your way to summer fun! Starting July 5th, the basketball camp will run Monday to Friday, kids ages 8–12 can attend 1 or all 4 weeks of camp. It’s a great way for your kids to stay active this summer and be part of a team! All skill levels are welcome, from kids who have just picked up a basketball to kids who are NBA bound! Registration is on a first come, first serve basis, and to ensure campers receive individual attention, registration is limited to 35 players per week. The goal is to create a fun, inclusive, and safe environment to learn the game of basketball by providing our campers with expert coaching, great competition, and individual instruction. 3. If your kiddos feel like dancing and singing the day away then the Musical Theatre Day Camps at Stagecoach Halifax may just be the perfect place for your little performer to thrive and have fun this summer. Based in Bedford, Stagecoach School for the Performing Arts is offering themed summer camps, incorporating the three musical theatre disciplines of singing, dancing, and drama all together ensuring your kids stay creative and have fun! 4. Paddle your way into summer fun with Sackawa Canoe Club! Offering a great summer program for both new and experienced paddlers! This summer program provides a balance of paddling and land activities, ensuring a summer of fitness, learning, friendship, and fun! Sackawa summer programs run July 5–August 27. The programs are broken down by age and there’s even something for us parents! You can find all the information on their website.
