Go back in time downtown, bounce at Sunnyside, scavenge around Halifax, and Hope for Wildlife!
1.Freedom of the City is an honour granted to military or paramilitary groups in recognition of their service to a municipality. Since 1998, the 78th Highlanders has exercised this privilege by marching through the streets of Halifax with bayonets fixed, drums beating, and Colours flying. Take in the special squad inspection inside the Halifax Citadel starting at 11 and then after the noon gun, follow the Highlanders to Grand Parade and onto Government House. Don’t miss the unique opportunity to celebrate ‘Confederation-era pageantry’ in 2018!
2. It’s a FREE Family Fun Day at Sunnyside Mall in Bedford, Saturday, 11-2! There’s lots of activities for the whole family! Bouncy castles, Busker performances, Nerf/laser tag battles, music and special guests from HRM Mascots and Inflatables!
3. The Great Halifax Hunt – the first ever scavenger hunt hosted by the Rotaract Club of Halifax in downtown Halifax! A fun filled day with proceeds going towards toward the long-term effort to eradicate polio. Everyone is to meet at Cornwallis Park on the corner of Barrington and South St, in front of the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel. Gather up a team of up to four people for a chance to win a prize! Prizes will be offered for the first, second, and third place for most correct answers! If there is a tie for answers, the quickest team to return in time will win! Tickets are $10 and include a BBQ at the end of the event!
4. This is a day you don’t want to miss! Hope for Wildlife’s Annual Open House welcomes the public to take a behind-the-scenes look at wildlife rehabilitation in Nova Scotia this Sunday from 12-4! Chat with the team, play some games, get your face painted, and enjoy live music. Kids can also bring their favorite toy to be seen by our veterinarian for a check! There will be 50+ local exhibitors, crafts, silent auction, food, and of course, lots of wildlife.
