Weekend Wrap-Up April 13-15, 2018

This weekend how ‘bout some feel good, do good action? There is a lot of virtue floating freely around Halifax…get charitable with Gelato or bicycles and take in the goodness with a free concert or Anne Frank.

  1. Get in line after lunch on Saturday for FREE Gelato Day at Humani-T Café! They start serving gelato at 2 in exchange for charitable donations to World University Service of Canada! Either location, the North End Humani-T on 5755 Young Street or downtown on 1451 South Park Street will be serving up the delicious fun!
  2. A FREE concert at Halifax Central Library! Look at and listen to the Sackville Concert Band and the 9am Community Band at to the Paul 9’Regan Hall for their 4th annual concert at Halifax Central Library. At 1:30 on Saturday enjoy a selection of music for the whole family.
  3. Spring clean out that garage for derelict youth or adult bikes to donate to the Friday Evening Bike Repair and Drop-Off hosted by the Ecology Action Centre from 5-9 at Citadel Community Centre on 1955 Trollope St. Don’t stop at donating a bike, give your time and make an evening out of it! All volunteers who want to help triage and repair used bicycles for new Canadians are welcome. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Feel free to message the Ecology Action Centre any time at WW@ecologyaction.ca for more info.
  4. The Diary of Anne Frank is playing this weekend at the Pond Playhouse; Friday at 8 and Saturday at 2 and 8 and kids as young as 8 are enjoying it! The production runs until April 21,  see the Urban Parent Calendar for more showtimes. Tickets are on-sale now at Ticket Atlantic and start at $15. Let the Theatre Arts Guild transport your family to German-occupied Amsterdam in 1942, with a haunting set design and a new adaptation of the classic script. Anne’s story of spirit and courage is a story that resonates as much now as it did 70 years ago.
