Celebrate the season with holiday pop-ups and craft shows, talking trees and festivities!
1. This holiday season, buy local, buy handmade, buy student-made. Drop by NSCAD University’s historic downtown campus for their 4th Annual Holiday Pop-Up. More than 40 NSCAD students are selling all kinds of original art, craft and design. Gifts to be found at the Fountain Campus Friday evening till 9, Saturday 10-4 include but are not limited to, ceramics, paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, letterpress cards, books, jewellery, fashion, textiles, and sculpture!
2. Can’t find that perfect gift? Come down to the Last Minute Christmas Craft Show and Sale at the Halifax Forum on Windsor Street this weekend. This is your chance to pick up some quality handcrafted items from Nova Scotian artisans before Santa arrives. Doors open at 10 on Saturday and Sunday morning. Enter free and show your support for the local art community.
3. Tinsel the Talking Christmas Tree is coming back to Sackville! Watch the kids in amazement as Tinsel comes to life and spreads holiday joy. Shows are approximately 20 minutes and run every half hour at Springfield Lake Rec Centre on Sunday from 1-4, Sunday and Monday 6-8. Watch and listen to Tinsel for FREE. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and accepted on behalf of Beacon House.

4. The New Ross Christmas Festival is a family friendly weekend-long event just an hour from Halifax. Events around New Ross begin Friday evening and goes through Sunday. This family-friendly festival includes the tree lighting ceremony and the ‘Children’s Parade of Lights’. There is also Christmas Tree U-picks, craft fairs, turkey dinners and other meals, children’s crafts, Ross Farm Museum’s ‘Christmas in the Country’, local entertainment, and much more. Most sites at the New Ross Christmas Festival have free admission and most evening concerts are by donation.
