Weekend Wrap-up: Oct 6-8, 2012

Happy Thanksgiving! One thing to be thankful for this looooooooong (hooray!) weekend, is that there is so much going on! 1. Love some cotton candy, flashing midway lights and barnyard animals? Then head to the Maritime Fall Fair! They have been entertaining children and families for more than 10 years. You'll find it at Exhibition Park where you can enjoy horse shows, livestock displays, farm centre, Little Moe's dog show, Glow Parties attractions, rides and MUCH more! 2. Not having a turkey dinner at home? Then head to the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm's Harvest Dinner for a three course indulgence featuring some of the Rose & Kettle's most popular fare: autumn vegetable soup and homemade biscuits, roast turkey with seasonal sides and all the trimmings plus a choice of pumpkin pie with fresh cream or gingerbread with lemon sauce for dessert. 3. Head to the valley for part of the race series for the Valley Marathon, a Kids Run for children up to age 12 on Saturday. This is a FREE event, emphasizing FUN and PARTICIPATION. Completion Medal for all participants. 4. It's the annual Fall Festival Of Colours At Wentworth! A Thanksgiving weekend annual tradition. Come enjoy scenic chairlift ride, guided hikes, BBQ and so much more.  Plus on Saturday there will be a petting zoo and a haystack playground! So much fun for everyone! 5. Love a good corn maze? Two very popular ones are the Noggins Mayan Adventure Corn Maze and the River Breeze Corn Maze and Pumpkin U-pick! Both are open all holiday weekend! 6. On Saturday at Ross Farm, members of the Nova Scotia Basketry guild will be on hand in the Farm workshop demonstrating basket making! And then on holiday Monday they are having a Thanksgiving celebration! It is your chance to step back in time and experience Thanksgiving settlers style. Enjoy demonstrations of open-hearth cooking, coopering and sauerkraut making!
