1. It's going to be a colourful weekend in the city! 1. Kicking it all off is Halifax Pride! There will be face painting, bouncy castles, fireworks and a huge parade at 1:30 on Saturday with over 150 entertaining floats! Help make this the biggest, brightest PRIDE celebration the city has ever seen! 2. The 2012 Olympics kick off today! Watch the opening ceremonies with your kids and take a look at the schedule and figure out which events you want to watch as a family. Help your kids learn some of the participating countries flags and then head to Woozles where they can try to win a playmobile olympian by guessing the flags used in their window display! Here are some colouring pages to entertain the kids while you watch and here are some fun games to play as a family! 3. It's Africfest 2012! Come and celebrate the unique cultural and artistic heritage of people of African descent. Performers are from Ghana, Sudan, Eritrean, Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, the Caribbean, North Preston, Halifax, etc. See Jazz, hip-hop, spoken words, stand-up comedy, food and lots more! 4. Fluffy Bottom Babies is ONE year old! Come celebrate with them at their special party on Saturday July 28 from 11am -3pm! Local photographer Kaitlyn Ross will be on location to capture a gorgeous photo of you and your baby/child, overlooking the Halifax harbour! Dr. Karen Smith will be there from 1-3pm to answer any questions about the aches and pains of pregnancy and how you can prevent them.
