1. Since 2003, the Northern Lights Lantern Festival has celebrated North End Halifax. The Festival is a day of fun and creativity for all ages, where old friends run into each other and new friends are made. There will be a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, 50/50 draw, lantern making, bouncy castles, free bbq, lantern procession with a fireworks finale! 2. Join Parks Canada at Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic site for Dark Sky Weekend, conveniently scheduled around Saturday August 11, the absolute peak of the Perseid Meteor Showers! Kejimkujik has recently been designated as a Dark Sky Preserve (the only one in Nova Scotia!), and thus its dark sky will give everyone an incredible view of the showers. 3. What better way to celebrate the Museum of Natural History's Out of This World: Extraordinary Costumes from Film and Television exhibit, than by viewing some of the fantastic films that contain the amazing costumes and props? In partnership with the Museum of Natural History, head to the Woodlawn Public Library on Saturday August 11th, 2012 at 2:15pm for Star Wars: The Clone Wars! Learn more about their exhibit, watch the film and have a chance to win annual museum passes. 4. Head to the Forum for India Fest! Indo Canadian Centre Society of HRM welcomes you to India Fest! Enjoy a Colourful Exhibition including Authentic Food, Cultural Events, Music, Yoga, Dance, Drama, Spices and more! 5. It's the Eastern Passage-Cow Bay Summer Carnival! There's so much to do for the whole family with a Children's Parade, BBQ, Talent Show, Reptile Show, Rides and more!
