Weekend Wrap-Up, Sept 23, 2019

Welcome to fall, Halifax families!

1. Fall is happening! Ring in Autumn with a trip down to Mahone Bay’s Scarecrow Festival & Antique Fair! It’s their 20th Annual and it runs all weekend.  Other highlights include children’s activities and crafts, musical entertainment, historic graveyard tours, book sales, BBQs, yard sales, and a quilt jamboree. The festival kicks off on Friday morning when all the Scarecrows are officially on display and the festivities last all weekend! The scarecrows will be sticking around for a while though.

2.  It’s the annual OutGROW OutPLAY Children’s Consignment Event at Soccer NS!  Find everything you need for your child (newborn–16yrs) at a fraction of the prices you would pay in store! This super sale is at the BMO Soccer Centre in Clayton Park and runs 4:30-7:30 on Friday, 9-2 on Saturday, and 10-1 Sunday is the half-price sale!

3. This Saturday take a drive to Meet Your Farmer at Fisherman’s Cove! The Meet Your Farmer event highlights different types of fresh food producers in our community to promote buying local. There will be vendors, information booths, and a cooking demo for the adults and a Bouncy Castle, Craft Corner, and Petting Zoo for the kids. Free breakfast from 8-10. There will even be an electric car you can test drive!

4.  Hey Northenders! There’s a Community Family Fun Day hosted by Bethel Church at 5406 Roome St. in Halifax on Saturday from 11-2. Enjoy a community BBQ, bouncy castle, treats, sparkly tattoos, and music! Everyone is welcome!
