Weekend Wrap-Up Nov. 17-19, 2017

This weekend Urban Parent presents week 1 of 3 of a guide to tree lightings and seasonal parades, and a tip on a great source for sing-a-long holiday spirit. This weekend you may take your music and raise it a circus, or take your hip craft market and let the sun set.

  1. Join in on the Halifax Holiday Hustle, a challenge of seeing as many TREE LIGHTINGS and SEASONAL PARADES as possible. This weekend will be a bright one!

On Friday at 11:30 at Grand Parade join the crowd for the Halifax Tree for Boston Send-Off. Port Cities will be performing for this 100th anniversary of the Halifax Explosion. Thanks Boston! xox Urban Parent.

On Saturday the 22nd Annual Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade of Lights will be rolling through Halifax starting at 6:00 on Upper Water Street. Check out the Urban Parent Calendar for entire the route!

On Sunday it’s the Light Up Bedford Parade beginning at 5:45 at Convoy Run all the way to Bedford Place Mall. The Bedford Lions Club will be collecting food, toys, and cash donations for during the parade. Prior to the parade, kids of all ages can enjoy some warm hot chocolate and make a fun glow-in-the-dark craft at the Bedford Public Library’s Pre-Parade Program from 2:30-4:30.

All Holiday Hustle events are highlighted in RED on the Urban Parent Calendar. Earn bonus HHH points by seeing them all and redeem them for holiday cheer and goodwill to all!

  1. If you’re looking for an event that promises to leave you filled with Christmas spirit, head three-quarters of an hour east from Dartmouth on highway 107 to Memory Lane 1940s Heritage Village in Lake Charlotte. Their annual dinner is already sold out, but their Candlelight Concert Sing-a-Long is first come first seated. On Saturday or Sunday, doors at 4:45, bring a good will donation and sing along with the Musical Friends Choir at the Clam Harbour United Church in Memory Lane 1940s Heritage Village.
  2. This is your mind on Halifax Circus…this is your mind on Halifax Circus on Music. On Friday at 7:00 or 8:30, Saturday at 2:00, 6:00 or 8:00, or Sunday at 6:00 or 8:00, have your family’s minds collectively blown! Tickets will be available at the door, $20 for adults, $15 for seniors/students/unwaged, and $12 for kids 12 and under.
  3. This weekend’s craft market spotlight goes out to the North by Night Holiday Market. On Saturday from 4-9 at 2553 Agricola (Cyclesmith’s back parking lot) there will be fun for all. There’s no admission to see live music, chill in the beer garden, warm up with some mulled wine, have a food truck supper, support local artisans, and take part in family activities. Throw on some mittens and enjoy this community event!
