Weekend Wrap-Up, May 31-June 2, 2019

You can spend the weekend outside on your bike, walk the trails, run a race and top it off with a fun cultural festival!

1. Take part in the third annual FREE Long Lake Park Family Run/Walk this Saturday at Long Lake Provincial Park! On-site registration for the event begins at 9 and the run starts at 10! There’s a 5k race weaving and looping through the forest and along the shores of Long Lake on the Lakeview Trail for some added fun. Enjoy a post-run get-together with snacks, coffee and cold drinks.  Just head up street to the park on Hadley Crescent. The park is awesome and has a great playground for little ones! 2. Take in the sights, sounds, and tastes of EVERYTHING LEBANESE this weekend! The 13th annual Lebanese Cedar Festival will give you three amazing nights of entertainment, delicious Lebanese cuisine, live music, cultural shows, children’s fun play area and admission is FREE! Bring your friends and family! Starts Friday night at 8 at their new location, 111 Clayton Park Dr. in Halifax.

3. It’s International Trails Day! This Saturday at 10 come celebrate our shared/multi-use BLT trail! The walk/run/bike starts at 10 at the Tailhead (parking lot next to Coca-Cola plant in Lakeside Industrial Plant). There’s a memorial dedication at 10:30 for Catherine Klefenz and Lindsay Gates at Six Mile Falls and at 11:30, a FREE BBQ , face painting, giant bubble making, and more family fun at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Timberlea! Everyone’s invited!

4. Celebrate this weekend on your bike because it’s Bike Week, Halifax! Ride around the neighbourhood on a nice evening, ditch the car when you can, and participate in one of the many family-friendly cycling events in the city! The Halifax-Dartmouth Ferry will be free June 1-9 for anyone on a bike; it’s Bike to School Day on Friday, June 7; Saturday there’s a Bike-In Movie on the Halifax Commons at 8, and a Bike Rodeo at Mulgrave Park at 1.
