Wowza Woosles, Carnivals, Free Skates & International Women’s Day! Urban Parent has Saturday to Monday covered!

1. On Saturday from 10-12 at Woozles on Birmingham Street in Halifax, party with Princess Elizabeth—you know, the one who prefers a paper bag over a ball gown? Join in and celebrate 40 years with the Robert Munsch classic! This is a family friendly event, with a storytime, craft activities, and a costume contest/photobooth. Come dressed as your favourite character, Princess Elizabeth, Prince Ronald, or the dragon, from the beloved classic, The Paper Bag Princess, and you could win a gift pack! Additionally, Woozles has a limited number of signed copies of the anniversary edition of The Paper Bag Princess available for sale that day.

2. The Mount Saint Vincent Student Union’s Fountain Playcentre is hosting their 19th Annual Kids Carnival this Saturday at the Rosaria Student Union Building. The carnival is open to all Mount Students, Faculty, Alumni and their children, as well as community members. With bouncy castles, face painting, snacks, and more, there is something for any child to do and enjoy. Admission is $3 (2 yrs and older) and event runs 1-4!

3. The Sackville Arena holds FREE Public Skates throughout the winter months on Sundays at 1 to give the community access to a bit of fun exercise. They care a lot about your safety, so helmets are mandatory, and children are not to be left unattended.

4. This year’s International Women’s Day event, Realizing Women’s Rights Across Generation and Diversity, is hosted in partnership between the Halifax Regional Municipality’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion and The Halifax Central Library. All are invited to this FREE event! On Monday, from 10-12, at the Paul O’Regan Theatre, enjoy a host of activities including information booths, panel discussions, door prizes, entertainment, and healthy snacks.
