Weekend Wrap-Up March 16-18, 2018

What are you doing this weekend, Urban Parent? Same thing we do every weekend, track down the best family friendly events in HRM and share them with all the awesome families in town! This time we’ve got a free skate to share with you, a nature nut meeting, some circus slash symphony, and storytime at a wholesome location…Best part, everything on the list is FREE!

  1. Canadian Parents for French-NS and Alliance Francaise have gotten together to offer an evening of skating for families throughout the community. In honour of Saint Patrick (wear your green!) and French Canadian culture (skate to French tunes!) skate Saturday evening away from 7-8:30 at The Forum.
Venez en famille, patinez sur de la musique en français pour souligner le mois de la Francophonie et portez du vert pour célébrer la Saint-Patrick 7-8:30 Samdi nuit a La Forum! Organisée avec Canadian Parents for French-NS.

  1. Have a budding Nature Nut in your family? Take them to the Young Naturalists Club’s free monthly meeting which lands on the third Sunday of every month—this Sunday from 10:30-12. They don’t have to be a member to drop into a meeting and check it out but might want to by the time the meeting is through! Great news, YNC is free to join and they take educational and exciting field trips every month!

  1. Bad news, this free event is already sold out. Good news, that means some of you may already be registered and it will be awesome!!! From Symphony Nova Scotia’s Family Series and with Halifax Circus, this Sunday at Pier 21 there is Circus at the Symphony. The wait list may still be open, check here to find out and get on it. There are two performances on Sunday, 1:30 (sensory friendly) and 3 (lots of audience participation) featuring juggling, aerials, unicycles, acrobatics, and a full symphony orchestra! Keep these free Family Series concerts on your radar and if you don’t make it to this one, register early for the next one! Promise, next time we will give you advance notice.

  1. Halifax Brewery Farmers’ Market: come for the stories, stay awhile for the produce, baked goods, and local wares! Every Saturday at 10:30 Dough-Nuts Easy Clay presents a selection of local children’s books by Nimbus Publishing and classic favourites read by Nicole Mosher. Plus, the market has an entire children’s section filled with toys, crafts, and books!
