1. The Halifax International Busker Festival is in town! This year, celebrate 30 years of talent from places around the world such as Australia, England, Ireland and the United States! The oldest and largest of its kind in Canada. Come and watch them perform a wide variety of street theater, acrobatics, music, visual arts, fire displays and comedy. There is also a little carnival down on the boardwalk, take a ride on the Ferris wheel and get a whole new perspective on the city!
2. Happy Birthday Halifax!!! It’s our city’s birthday weekend so head over this Saturday to Alderney Landing for their Olde Tyme County Fair/Mother Goose Festival! Or spend Sunday at the commons with Peppa Pig and Brother George. There are all kinds of exciting events planned like, live concerts, road races, talent showcase, one of the oldest parades in Atlantic Canada and a spectacular fireworks show launched from a barge in the middle of Halifax Harbour on Saturday and Sunday!!! Wow, what a party!
3. Head to Lunenburg on Sunday for the Folk Art Festival! There will be over 50 participating artists, music , prizes and a great country atmosphere!
4. It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, not Christmas…..back to school! (also one of my favourite STAPLES commercials). That’s right! It is that time of year and although summer is only half way over, we need to start thinking about getting our kids back to school. So look out for all those deals on back-to-school supplies that will be coming up over the next few weeks.
