Halifax’s winter wonderland in full swing!
1. The Downtown Dartmouth Ice Festival is back and better than ever! The Ice Festival was so successful, they’ve added an extra day of live sculpting, for your family to enjoy all weekend long! Portland Street will be closed to traffic on Saturday starting at noon. Activity sites include Portland Street, King’s Wharf, Alderney Landing, and the East Coast Credit Union. Take a horse-drawn wagon ride, sign songs, roast marshmallows fireside with local musicians, bounce around an indoor winter wonderland at the Alderney Landing Theatre, or skate with the Ice Princesses at the Zatzman Sportsplex. Best part is…it’s all FREE!
**This year, weather permitting, the ice sculptures will be lit at night! The Downtown Dartmouth Ice Festival is presented by East Coast Credit Union**
2. Looking for a fun activity for Saturday morning? Bring the kids (ages 5-12) to Home Depot in Dartmouth Crossing or Lacewood in Halifax for a FREE kid’s workshop. On the second Saturday of each month, from 10-12, there is a new project to create using wood, hammers, and glue. Check the Home Depot site to find out each month’s project—spoiler alert, this month it’s all about Valentine’s! First-timers will receive a kid-sized Home Depot apron, and every time, a pin for each workshop completed.
3. If you didn’t get a chance to see How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World on the big screen or did but want to see it again, you can this weekend as part of the Family Favourite’s Movies at Cineplex. Admission is only $3, so grab some popcorn and enjoy!
4. Sunday is National Pizza Day! What’s better than a pizza? Two pizzas, of course! Freeman’s Little New York is doubling up your order on this special day! Buy 1 pizza and get 1 pizza free all day! Valid at all Freeman’s locations, this Sunday, February 9, 2020. Don’t forget…Freeman’s has FREE delivery too!
