Discover this weekend with science, puppets, wintery fun, and learning code!
1. With a featured exhibit that’s the talk of the town, a full schedule of science shows, and an exciting mix of full dome films and live star shows, there’s no better time than March Break to visit the Discovery Centre! Dig into the Dexter Construction Zone, learn to fly in one of their flight simulators, check out their featured exhibit Beyond Rubik’s Cube, catch a live Fire and Ice science show, sip some coffee while the little ones play around upstairs with bubbles, musical instruments, and more! There’s so much to do! Take a few days and discover at the Discovery Centre, a family pass is $48+hst.
2. How about a puppet show this weekend? Enter Halifax Public Libraries! The Sky is Falling, will be performed at Captain William Spry Public Library this Saturday at 11 and Halifax Central is performing Monster Reads at 11. If you want to stick around Halifax Central for a little while, they have a free bracelet making craft activity, all materials provided for ages 3+ at 2.
3. Head to Shubie Park for wintery fun at Family Winter Fest! Enjoy activities for children, youth, and adults such as snowshoeing, outdoor cooking, parachute games, crafts, and more! Enjoy yummy hot chocolate and refreshments. Please note, snowshoeing is weather dependant. Please check for cancellations on the event page or by calling the Adventure Earth Centre at 902-490-4539.
4. Is the child in your life a visual learner? Do they enjoy creating digital art or playing with interactive visual technology? Kids Learning Code is excited to host Animating with Scratch for kids 9-12 years old at 1 on Saturday @ Common Good Solution on Cunard St. in Halifax! This experience offers learners the opportunity to express their creativity in a super fun environment, and learn about the different elements of a story, as well as basic design principles.
