What do India, a lantern, a tortoise, and a sandcastle have in common? This weekend in HRM!
1. It’s India Fest at the Forum this weekend! It’s a perfect chance to immerse yourself in the beauty and culture of India with henna tattoos, product vendors, activities and of course the amazing food!! Who doesn’t love a good samosa? Admission is $2 and the festival opens at 11 on Friday.
2. Since 2003, the Northern Lights Lantern Festival has celebrated North End Halifax. The festival is a day of fun and creativity for all ages, where old friends run into each other and new friends are made. The festival starts at 4:30 on Saturday. There will be a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, lantern making, bouncy castles, free bbq, lantern procession with a fireworks finale! This is a completely free community festival in the truest sense and everyone is welcome.
3. Happy Birthday Gus! Everyone’s favourite tortoise is turning 97 and you’re invited to the celebration on Sunday. Head to the Museum of Natural History for cupcakes, lemonade, activities, and more! Party starts at 11 and is included in admission price.
4. Spend your Sunday at the BEACH! Use your hands, shovels, and pails to sculpt your masterpiece! The 2018 Clam Harbour Sandcastle Competition will bring tons of sand and family fun! Entry is $10 for adults/teams 19+ and kids are FREE! Gates open at 9.
