Weekend Wrap-Up Aug 23-25, 2019

Family, Family, Funday’s! Take a ride to Truro, support Hope for Wildlife, check out Citadel Hill, make it to Switch in Dartmouth. The end of summer is on the horizon, so soak up the sun with your family while you still can!

1. Blue Jeans and Country Dreams is the theme of the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition this year. Pack the kids up and head to Truro Tuesday! There’s always so much do to at the Ex and it’s fun for the whole family so be sure to check it out. ! Get the full schedule here!

2. This is a day you don’t want to miss!  Hope for Wildlife’s Annual Open House welcomes the public to take a behind-the-scenes look at wildlife rehabilitation in Nova Scotia this Sunday from 12-4! Chat with the team, play some games, get your face painted, and enjoy live music. There will be 50+ local exhibitors, crafts, silent auction, food, and of course, lots of wildlife.

3. Freedom of the City is an honour granted to military or paramilitary groups in recognition of their service to a municipality. Since 1998, the 78th Highlanders has exercised this privilege by marching through the streets of Halifax with bayonets fixed, drums beating, and Colours flying. Take in the special squad inspection inside the Halifax Citadel starting at 11 on Friday and then after the noon gun, follow the Highlanders to Grand Parade and onto Government House. Don’t miss the unique opportunity to celebrate ‘Confederation-era pageantry’ in 2019!

4.  Switch Dartmouth is happening on Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m. The biggest street party of the year got rained out in June, but they found a new date this summer! Same route, same time, just a new date. So head to Switch Dartmouth for a FREE afternoon of fun for all ages! Live music, bouncy castles, demonstrations, activities, and more! Specials and promos from downtown Dartmouth businesses plus community BBQ’s and food trucks on site.
