1. Ever since the mid-70s when six people formed the Dartmouth Handcrafters Guild as a non-profit group, it has been building momentum, growing in number to over 170 craftspeople, producing and sharing crafting ideas, and raising money for various charities. This weekend The guild’s is hosting their annual event, Christmas Craft Festival where a massive variety of crafts dazzle festival-goers. A fantastic opportunity for makers to gather and discuss all their crafty ideas, the festival livens up the Zatzman Sportsplex during the final weekend of October! The festival opens at noon on Friday, admission is $6 for the entire weekend. Net proceeds are donated to local charities.
2. We hope you’re prepped for this year’s Hal-Con taking place at The Halifax Convention Centre! The convention runs Friday to Sunday; hours are: Friday: 1-11, Saturday: 10-11, and Sunday: 10-7. Children’s passes have sold out at warp speed—hopefully your stargazers already have theirs. Friday and Sunday adult day passes are still be available: Friday -$35 + fee and tax and Sunday – $45 + fee and tax.
3. Historic Properties is well underway with their Annual Harvest Moon Festival! Every weekend in October there’s something fun and festive for you! This Saturday beginning at noon, families can enjoy fun activities and candy! The Courtyard will be decorated with spooky touches, photo booth, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin checkers and face painting.
4. Does someone in your house have a collection of porcelain cats on their dresser? Do they binge watch cute kitten videos on YouTube? Well, you simply must take them to this year’s Halifax Halloween Cat Show, Saturday and Sunday at the Forum. Even if it is you who has the Meow Mix song on a constant loop in your head, your kids won’t refuse to join you to watch a Black Cat Competition, enter Saturday’s noon-time cat costume class, or maybe come home with an adorable kitten…Admission is only $5 for adults, $3 for kids and $15 for families.
